My reverse proxy references all apps by IP address. Internally I use all app.local DNS rewrites in AdGuard Home for internal name resolution. I separate internal and external name resolution. I can't seem to find out why and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I set up AdGuard, set up the DNS re-writes, pointed my Ubiquiti UDM-Pro to my AdGuard DNS server ( 192.168.1.164) and started seeing the DNS queries in AdGuard (so I know it was working), but the re-writes weren't occurring. I looked into it the following morning and found that if I ran AdGuard I could set up some DNS rewrites that would allow me to do 'hassio.local' on my internal network, and AdGuard would re-write that to look like it was ' ha.'. At this point in time, I realized that having ' ha.' as my internal & external URL to access Home Assistant was a bad idea because I could no longer locally control my HA instance via my mobile device (as I couldn't bypass the encryption warnings). The other night, my internet service went down due to some bad weather we were having. All services are behind my reverse proxy using a wildcard SSL certificate on my domain ( ). I also have a Synology NAS (192.168.1.220) running a Home Assistant VM and MySQL server.
